LESWEEK 11: EXTRA EXERCISES

Deze extra oefeningen worden APART beoordeeld. Voor lesweek 10 staan ze hieronder. Oefeningen kopieren als totaal document-plakken in een WORD document- de antwoorden erin zetten en vervolgens OPSLAAN en voorzien van je naam. 1. Vorm:

  • ww +edI walked home yesterday.
  • tweede rijtje (bij onregelmatige ww)He went home by bus yesterday.
  • ? DID + hele werkwoord Did they go home by bus yesterday?
  • - DIDN’T + hele werkwoordI didn’t walk home yesterday.


2. Gebruik:

  • iets is in het verleden begonnen en afgelopen
  • in alle zinnen met een tijdsbepaling, die verwijst naar het verleden.
  • NB Kijk dus niet naar de Nederlandse vertaling! Kijk alleen of de actie in het verleden is gebeurd.

3. Signaalwoorden:

·yesterday, this morning, last year, in 1980
·when...?
·(at) what time...? how long ago...?

4. Voorbeelden:

  • Charles Dickens died in 1870.
  • He saw her last week
  • We first met a year ago.
  • It happened a long time ago.
  • The Titanic sank on her first voyage.

1. Vorm:

  • was / were + ww +ingI was walking when I heard a sound.We were watching TV when the telephone rang.
  • ? WAS/ WERE vóór het onderwerp.Were you watching TV? Was she talking to you?
  • - NOT achter WAS/WERE

I wasn’t walking. You weren’t watching TV.

2. Gebruik

  • iets was in het verleden al een tijd aan de gang
  • vaak in combinatie met past simple: lang durende actie (past cont.) wordt onderbroken door korte actie (past simple)
  • beschrijving van een toestand


3. Signaalwoorden:

  • when, while
  • as

4. Voorbeelden:

  • Yesterday, he was shopping at the supermarket for two hours.
  • He was cleaning (lang) the window, when the phone rang (kort).
  • They were watching (lang) a late-night movie when we came (kort) home.

EXERCISE 1: De volgende mensen weten nog precies wat ze aan het doen waren op het moment dat ze voor het eerst hun grote liefde tegenkwamen. Vul de juiste vormen van de werkwoorden tussen haakjes in.

EXERCISE 3: Vul de juiste vorm van de werkwoorden tussen haakjes in: kies tussen simple past en past continuous tense
Last week I (1) _______________ (walk) through town, when I (2) _______________ (meet) an old friend from school. While we (3) _______________ (chat), some weird bloke (4) _______________ (come) up to us and (5) _______________ (ask) us the way to the nearest book shop. I (6) _______________ (notice) he (7) _______________ (carry) a smart leather bag, but I (8) _______________ (not think) much of it. While I (9) _______________ (give) directions, he suddenly (10) _______________ (run off) with my friend’s handbag. While he (4) argued / was arguing with Sally, he suddenly (5) looked up / was lookingup and (6) saw / was seeing Erin. He (7) fell / was falling in love at first sight. Sally (8) still explained / was still explaining that she hadn’t taken his CD and didn’t see what was going on. But Erin (9) did notice / was noticing. And she thought it was nice that Kyle (10) was blushing / blushed. Because she (11) felt / was feeling that perhaps they might get together and become more than just good friends. ‘You know the other day, Kyle, when you (12) messed around / were messing around with your pals?’ she said to him . ‘What about it?’ grumbled Kyle. ‘Well don’t you remember you said you’d take me out to a film?’
